Professional Development Plan

1. What did I learn?
This week I decided to go to www.thinkfinity.org/EducatorHome.aspx and this to me is also a good website. It not only has resources for a teacher but also for students, parents, and for afterschool activities. It is really helpful because it is a fun website that the teacher can use with her students or use in the classroom. Like for example it has a lot of different lesson plans, interactive games, and activities. It is also easy to use because it is divided into subjects and according to the different audience. For the students it has homework help and for the parent it has resources that they can use to help them. I thought that this website was very helpful and informative.
2. What else do I want to learn?
I want to learn more about different ways that a teacher can make the lessons more fun, interactive, and inviting to students. I think that it is the best way to learn other than worksheets and lectures.

1. What did I learn?
The website that I visited this week is http://jayzeebear.com/green_forest.html and this is an awesome interactive website for students to learn while at the same time have fun. This website has different activities according to age. It is so easy to use and especially very kid friendly which is a plus. Here kids from as early as 2 year old can start learning about their colors, ABCs, shapes etc, by doing different interactive activities that they will have fun doing. For example if you go under the section for 2 yr olds and you click on the ABCs it will tell you the letter and show you a picture of something that starts with that letter. That helps with children phonemic awareness and phonics and is definately very useful. I really enjoyed this website and cant wait to introduce it to my son. :)
2. What else do I want to learn?
What i want to learn more about in class is about a lot of interactive websites that are out there for children. I think that by having students learn in a website like the one i visited this week it would be more fun and exciting to learn for them.

1. What did I learn?
The website that i went into this week is www.ixl.com and this is a math practice site for prek-6th grade students. The first things that caught my attention is how colorful, organized, and kid friendly this website is. This website also has a lot of information for teachers even on how to meet state standards. Through this website students are able to practice their math skills by doing activities and problems through colorful pictures. Once they are done the teacher can go back and look at the students reports. This website makes a student report out of every child and it lets the teacher know what the student needs help on. Also there is an award chart, once each child reaches their goal or masters a new concept they get awarded with prizes, its like a big treasure hunt for them. I definately enjoyed this website because its not only fun and educational for children but it is also very helpful and useful for the teacher.
2. What else do I want to learn?
What i would like to learn more about is of the free softwares that are out there. If i could learn more about free softwares i wont have to waste a lot of money but still get the same result.

I really thought this website was really good, I know i will definately be using it in the future because it has a lot of information and ideas that will help me be a great teacher.

2. What else do I want to learn?
What I would like to learn more would be about how to help students get more involved with technology. I think that technology is a great thing and it can help students learn in a different way.

1. What did I learn?
The website that I visited this week is www.pbs.org, and it was very interesting and informative. I found that there was a section for parents, children, and teachers. I really thought that was a good idea because each one focuses on the specific audience. In the parent section I found that there is a lot of ideas and activities that parents can do with their children. There is also a blog where parents can post their ideas. In the children section there is a section where they can prescribe to play learning games according to their age and level. Finally in the teachers section I found that there is teacher dicussions, professional development, blogs, and different ideas for teachers to use in the classroom. I definately found this website useful for not only teachers but also parents and students, I think that it is very imformative and it allows for ideas to be expressed and new ideas to be learned. I think that this website is very useful for me now that I' am a parent and i know it will be useful also when I become a teacher.

2. What else do I want to learn?
I would like to learn more about second life and how it works because i think it is very interesting to be able to communicate with people around the world. I also think it is awesome to be able to learn and travel to different time periods.

1. What did I learn?
This week I decided to go to the website http://www.teacher.scholastic.com and i definately like what I saw. There are a lot of different things that teachers and students can do in that website. For example for teachers, there are ideas for lesson plans, tips of how to have a better classroom, printables, you can even stay up to date with news. On the other hand for children there are a lot of different games that they can play where they can learn their, sounds, how to read, and to be creative in writing. I really enjoyed this website and I know for sure I will use it, I also plan to introduce it to my 5 year old because im sure he will enjoy it, have fun, and learn as well.
2. What else do I want to learn?
In class I would really like to learn more of how to create my own games so I can help my students learn. For example instead of making a game just to play I want to make a game about addition or subtraction, I think that will be fun and rewarding.

1. What did I learn?
The website that I visited this week is www.starfall.com, and for me its been one of the best websites I have learned about yet. First of all what I liked about it is that it is very child friendly, its colorful and easy for an adult and child to use. Through this website children can learn how to write sentences, read a book, learn their ABC's as well as how to do sign sign language. As I was exploring this website I learned that learning can be made fun to children, for example instead of just doing worksheets in the classroom I can have my students get on to this website and they can learn while at the same time have fun. I have a 5 year old boy and he loved this website as well, he always tells me "mom can I get in the computer so that I can learn"? To me it feels great that I can have him be on this website and I know that he is learning and enjoying himself.

2. What else do I want to learn?
What I would like to learn about more is different websites where teachers can go to get ideas to make learning more fun and enjoyable for students, instead of just having worksheet after worksheet all the time.
